I’ve got a problem with how to publish content, and where to do so. I’ve owned a domain for over ten years, OpenPLUTO.com. All efforts for posting things went on this domain and despite not ever gaining much steam, this is where all the efforts got focused.
Earlier this year I purchased a handful of domains after being introduced to Porkbun.com

OpenPLUTO has always ran WordPress because it’s on a shared host thru HostGator and cannot be bothered to run anything much more sophicated than that. I do hate the new Site Editor to death despite how great it seems like it should be. This is what lead me to purchasing a lifetime plan with BearBlog.dev which is what USWM.xyz is running off of.
Then we found out about OMG.lol which is like sort of a dream come true in a lot of ways. I started walking away from the corporate silos because there was no good way to control your content and it spit in the face of “owning your data”. I prefer to have the text I publish online first in the form of some note in my Obsidian vault and prefer to just simply copy and paste it over. My writing isn’t done for monetary gain so I do not feel the need to dress up adjectives or pat myself on the back for using proper grammar.
So I’m simply just not sure what to do with everything right now. I thought having time off of work would afford me the freedom to figure this all out but I’m no farther along than where I was two weeks ago. Now with the introduction of Substack, which again, sort of is spitting in the face of the ideals of the IndieWeb/owning your data, but it also has so many tools and features that would have made Medium a more enjoyable home during my years residency on that domain.
It’s all so much. Depression fiercest infantry forces are trying their best to compromise my defenses. Just gotta keep myself distracted with not-so-terrible things.
